Beijing, May 13 (Xinhua): China wants to Improve the classification and use of domestic waste in urban areas in the next five years. The authorities establish specific objectives for the treatment of urban garbage in period 2021-2025.

The country aims to increase the rate of use of urban household waste at around 60 percent at the end. From 2025, a plan released jointly by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.

At the end of 2025, China's ability for classification, collection and domestic waste transport will reach around 700,000 tons per day. The ability of garbage treatment from the country's urban home through incineration will be maintained at 800,000 tons per day, the document said.

Meanwhile, prefecture level cities and municipalities in regions including Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and neighboring areas, the" target="_BLANK">Yangtze River Delta, and the Bay Area Greater Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao should see established domestic garbage treatment and treatment systems.

Other regions will also actively seek a better coverage of classification and garbage treatment facilities, the plan said.
